The foil-stamped cover caught every bit of light in my office, and the hand-painted swirls are even richer in person than the photos showed. Knowing it was pressed on antique machinery makes the slight unevenness in the paint feel like a feature, not a flaw.
The wire binding lays completely flat when I write, which is rare for notebooks in this price range. The hand-painting makes the cover feel like a tiny piece of art, and mine came with a slightly uneven swirl pattern I actually love.
The foil-stamped cover on mine has this lovely vintage shimmer that photos don't quite capture, and the hand-painted pulpboard feels heavier and more substantial than any mass-produced notebook I've used. I keep it on my desk just to look at when I'm stuck on a thought.
